Paul has had a thirty-year career with the law. In 1984, after Paul completed his enlistment as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps, he commenced a 20-year career in Law Enforcement. His career began as a Deputy Sheriff, Detective and Criminal Investigator for the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office. During that time, Paul developed expertise in criminal investigations, Crime Scene Investigation and reconstruction, blood spatter analysis, external ballistics, and finger and palm print identification and comparison. In 2000, Paul was hired as a consultant to the United Nations as a civilian police officer in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. The goal of the mission was to teach democratic policing to the newly formed interim police force in Kosovo after the previous Serbian Government had been forced out of power in the region. During his one year mission in Kosovo, Paul headed up the Crime Scene Investigations/Forensic Unit and also served as the Deputy Director of Investigations for the entire mission. While in Kosovo, Paul and his unit investigated hundreds of serious crimes including murders, rapes, kidnapping and human trafficking.

He has been acknowledged as an expert in many fields and has testified as an expert in State Courts in fingerprint analysis and comparison, crime scene reconstruction, blood spatter analysis and external ballistics. Paul has also testified in the same subject areas internationally while in the U.N. Mission in Kosovo. Paul retired from law enforcement in 2004.

In 2002, Paul graduated from St. Mary’s College with a Bachelor’s degree in management (With Honors) and later attended and graduated in 2007 (Cum Laude) from Empire College of Law, in Santa Rosa, California. Paul took and passed the California Bar Exam on the first attempt and received his license to practice law in 2007.

In 2010, Empire College invited Paul back to the school, this time as a member of the faculty. Since that time, Paul has taught Legal Research and Writing to incoming law students.
Since becoming a lawyer in 2007, Paul has practiced family law. He has successfully represented clients in various areas of family law including dissolutions, child custody, spousal support and child support.

Paul participates in every facet of activity connected with practicing law, including jury trials, court trials, evidentiary hearings, restraining order hearings, custody disputes, disputes over assets, summary dissolutions, and post-dissolution hearings.
